Apple AI has made a slow start with most people not impressed with how it works but the company could change the situation by making a big change to its policy.

Apple wants to use data from its users and still keep their privacy in check.

Apple wants to use data from its users and still keep their privacy in check.

Apple is lagging far behind in the AI race and most of its efforts have lacked the right quantum and quality of data because of its stringent privacy rules. But now the company seems ready to rely on its user’s data to train the AI model and make sure it does not breach any privacy rules in doing so.

Confused? We were also for a while before going through the detailed Apple post which tells us what it really plans to do for its AI push in the next few months.

Apple AI To Finally Get Better?

The company says it will be using differential privacy techniques to power and improve the Apple AI features. This basically means the company will train its AI model on user data without really knowing the content of the data. It does sound complex but Apple says it has the right tools to make the technique work and still not read its user’s data.

This system will be very different from its existing method of training AI model. The company uses synthetic data for training, primarily because it preaches privacy which limits its ability to scan through human-generated mails, messages and more.

Apple feels it needs a better mechanism to make AI work which has been a struggle seeing its Siri AI delayed to next year. The company is creating sample emails with different topics and matching it for varying style, length and language as well.

This way, Apple gets to analyse the data through its users without knowing who the person is and what is their unique iPhone ID.

It does feel like a smart way to tackle the AI processing challenges and Apple does not have to break any privacy rules or read your data to make it work. We are eager to see in what shape these new techniques deliver on the front-end, starting with text messages and eventually work for emails as well.
