Google and battery issues with Pixel phones have become a recurring problem that the company needs to fix once and for all

Google Pixel battery issues continue and after seeing the Pixel 4a and 6a models face swelling problems, it is now the Pixel 7 series joining the dubious ranks. The company has been on an overdrive with its support for older Pixel devices that have even got free battery replacements in recent weeks.

And now, it will have to repeat the cycle once again, this time for the Pixel 7 models that are now over three generations old. The issues with Pixel 7 units have been mentioned in a report who have reached out to Google’s official support forums for some fix.

Time For Pixel 7 Batteries

The report from Android Authority quotes multiple users who have noticed their phone’s battery swelling which has become a dangerous situation for any Pixel device involved. The Pixel 7 Pro claims the side panel of the device started to separate which clearly indicates that the battery has grown beyond the panel. Some even noticed the phone shutting down out of the blue even when the device is fully charged.

The Google support team has been mixed with its response. Some have offered to replace the battery or any repairs for free, while others got basic support with only partial payments. The issue is mostly linked to out-of-warranty units where these damages are not being covered. This is rather surprising because Google has been receptive to the issues faced by Pixel 4a and 6a users.

We first heard about the Pixel 6a battery issue in June but the brand had similar problems with the Pixel 4a model that was also given a free battery replacement offer.

Google mentioned that the update is mandatory for the Pixel 6a users which will reduce the capacity of the battery as well as its charging speed to control the possible heating issues. The company will apply these throttles once the Pixel 6a unit reaches 400 charging cycles.

Google said users could take a new battery for free and get Rs 8,500 in cash for the issues. It also clarified that liquid damage or major dents to the device will make it ineligible for the free battery change.
