US President-elect Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr, has claimed that recent aid to Ukraine by the Biden administration is an attempt to start "World War III". This is ahead of Trump's return to the White House for his second term. Donald Trump Jr's comments come after President Joe Biden's decision to authorise the Ukrainian military to use American-supplied long-range missiles to target Russia.

Biden's term ends on January 20, the same day President-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony is scheduled.

This move by the Biden administration has raised concerns about escalating tensions between the US and Russia. However, Trump claims he could end the conflict.

Trump Jr. claimed in a tweet that the "military-industrial complex" is trying to create chaos in the ongoing war.

"The Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives. Gotta lock in those $Trillions. Life be damned!!! Imbeciles!" he wrote on X.

This comes after President Biden recently approved Ukraine's use of a US-made long range missile, also known as the Army Tactical Missile System or ATACMS, in the Kursk region, which lies on the north-east border between Russia and Ukraine.

These missiles, with a range of about 190 miles, have a powerful blast impact.

Ukraine, after months of requesting the missiles, signalled it would soon deploy them to address battlefield setbacks, according to the New York Post.

February 2025 will mark three-years of the Russia-Ukraine war. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

An important part of the Trump camapign was his promise to put an end to the war.

During his first presidential debate against Kamala Harris, he claimed he could end the war within 24 hours if he succeeded Joe Biden.

After his landslide victory in the US elections over Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, Trump was seen on calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“As President Trump has said on the campaign trail, he is the only person who can bring both sides together in order to negotiate peace and work towards ending the war and stopping the killing,” Trump's communications director, Steven Cheung, told the New York Post.

However, Trump has not yet disclosed the specifics of his plan to end the war.

Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump and his first wife, Ivana Trump, has been actively involved in his father's political campaign and activity and is reportedly playing a significant role in the transition team, including helping decide Trump's Cabinet nominees, reported the Post.
