Earlier, Dylan was arrested for attempting to scale Buckingham Palace’s fence and had been released on bail.
On the day of the brutal killing, Dylan was driven to the house by his grandmother.
According to a report in New York Post, on the night of the alleged murder, Thomas reportedly invited Bush to his room under the pretext of meeting before their holiday plans. However, the encounter turned violent. According to prosecutors, Thomas attacked Bush with a knife, delivering a stab wound to the back of his neck. Bush, in a desperate attempt to save his life, fled through the house, leaving a trail of blood as Thomas pursued him. The attack ended on the patio, where Thomas inflicted a fatal injury by severing an artery in Bush’s neck.
After the bone-chilling attack, Thomas called 999, claiming Bush had “gone mental" and stabbed him. However, the prosecution argued it was a premeditated assault. Judge Steyn described the murder as “particularly terrifying," noting Bush was attacked in his bedroom by someone he trusted.
The court also heard from Bush’s grieving family and girlfriend. His sister, Catrin, described the murder as “barbaric and cruel," while his father, John, said the family’s lives had been changed “profoundly." Bush’s girlfriend, Ella Jefferies, spoke of losing the future they had planned together, calling him “the love of my life."
While Thomas’s defense claimed he regretted not seeking psychiatric help, with evidence suggesting he had been psychotic for months before the killing.
As per BBC report, after his arrest, Thomas reportedly told officers he was Jesus and offered them “jobs with God."
The South Wales Police described the attack as an unprovoked betrayal by someone the victim had trusted.
