Apple is going to have a big 2025 and the next few years as it not only looks to make amends for the delayed AI release but also its entry into the foldable arena. The company is tipped to launch two foldables in the next 24 months, and before that we are likely to see the first iPhone Air model in the market as well.

The Air has generated a lot of interest, not only because of the name but also what it could offer in the lineup and maybe even replace the iPhone Plus moniker in the near future. But new details emerging about the iPhone 17 Air suggest Apple has a lot more riding on the new model which needs to be on the mark for its own foldable ambitions.

iPhone 17 Air is claimed to be Apple’s thinnest model ever, even less than what we have seen with the older iPhone variants. The thinness will invariably bring some cutbacks and one of them could be linked to the number of cameras at the back and the overall battery size for the 17 Air.

But a report from Bloomberg says Apple will heavily depend on the success of the iPhone 17 Air model to define its foldable roadmap. Mark Gurman even mentions that the company could adopt a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 but its thickness could be utilised from the Air version.

Earlier reports claim the company’s iPhone foldable will be costly at around $2,300 which takes it close to Rs 2 lakh. Apple’s rumoured intentions to launch the 17 Air before its foldable hints at a bigger play, allowing the company to test the technology on a comparatively affordable product and then bring it to the premium foldable device.

With most foldables available, people talk about their obvious heaviness which has come down but needs to trim down further. If Apple can spearhead that evolution for the foldables, it could lead the way not only in terms of the design but the overall engineering trends as well.

For these quoted prices, the company will surely need more than the popular brand logo and fancy marketing blitz to succeed, and the 17 Air could be the answer to its future growth.
