OnePlus Open 2 launch is expected to be confirmed once Oppo unveils its next-gen foldable in the coming weeks.
The Open 2 foldable could put Samsung's Fold in serious trouble
The upcoming Oppo Find N5, which may be marketed as the OnePlus Open 2 in select regions, is expected to hit the shelves in early 2025. While the company is yet to reveal the details of this foldable device, tipster Digital Chat Station has shared key specifications on Weibo, although the phone itself was not named.
According to the tipster, the overall design of the engineering prototype closely resembles that of its predecessor, the Oppo Find N3, but with the added benefits of being lighter and thinner. Notably, the Oppo Find N5 is set to feature a larger display, though specific screen dimensions have not been disclosed.
The Find N3 features an external display measuring 6.31 inches, while its internal display is 7.82 inches. According to the informant, the Find N5 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which also powers the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 smartphones
The tipster speculated that the foldable device will include a triple-camera setup designed in collaboration with Hasselblad. The rear cameras will comprise a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP primary camera.
The Open 2 is expected to feature a dual-cell battery with a rated capacity of 5,565mAh, consisting of cells rated at 2,460mAh and 3,105mAh. This represents a notable improvement over the previous model, which had a 4,805mAh battery. While the tipster did not provide specifics on fast charging, it was mentioned that the Find N5 will support wireless charging.
Recent speculation suggests that the Oppo Find N5 will be the first foldable phone to utilise the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and will boast a main display with a 2K resolution. Furthermore, the same tipster recently claimed that when folded, the device will be more compact, with a thickness of approximately 9.x mm.
There are also suggestions that the Find N5 may feature a three-stage alert slider to control ringing modes and a specially designed slim USB-C port, although this has yet to be confirmed. It is important to note, however, that the details surrounding the forthcoming phone are speculative and should be regarded with caution.
