OpenAI is working on a social media platform which will get AI features that will make ChatGPT a core part with its image generation tools.

OpenAI is ready to take its battle with Elon Musk to the social media ring
The OpenAI vs Elon Musk battle could heat up as the AI giant is reportedly planning to launch its own AI-powered social media platform like X and compete with Instagram as well. Sam Altman’s company is working on a range of products and it seems social media with a dose of AI is very high on their to-do list which could come to fruition in the near future. The report by The Verge also claims the rumoured social network will function like X, formerly known as Twitter.
OpenAI Social Media Bet: What It Might Offer
The report claims the prototype of the social media platform has already been developed, and OpenAI could see the ChatGPT 4o image generation tool being part of the new product.
The company will offer a feed like X and Instagram where you can see the AI-generated images from ChatGPT 4o and maybe other versions in the later update. We still don’t know if the social platform from OpenAI will be a standalone app or integrated with its existing products like ChatGPT.
We are also not sure of the social media element of the platform where AI will be heavily involved and not like the AI features baked into WhatsApp via Meta AI or X with Grok AI available already in the market for free.
The report does little to answer these questions but it does say that Altman is seeing feedback from people outside the company about the internal prototype, which gives them more insights into its viability and performance levels.
But the thought of OpenAI entering the social media arena will surely have Musk in a fix as both the tech wizards have been at loggerheads in the past year or so and this new platform could take the war to a whole new level with Mark Zuckerberg also entering the arena.
