PM Modi invites UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to attend BRICS Summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the BRICS Summit, which India is set to host later this year, during a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
The meeting was the third between the two leaders in 2026, reflecting the strength of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across sectors including technology, trade, investment, energy and defence, building on the outcomes of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's visit to India in January and Modi's visit to the UAE in May.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. Modi emphasised the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity in promoting lasting peace, security and stability in West Asia.
Both sides stressed the need to ensure free, safe and unimpeded navigation, trade and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important route for global energy supplies and maritime trade.
