Uber is bringing its new service called Uber for Teens in the Indian market this month, which basically gives teenagers the power to hail its service under the guidance of their parents or a guardian. Teen safety has been a concern for many parents, especially when they cannot keep an eye out for their kids while going for activities.
Uber for Teens claims to be a reliable option for these people, allowing them to track their movement and also being aware of their situation. As the name suggests, Uber for Teens caters to kids between the age of 13 and 17 years.
Uber for Teens In India: What It Offers For Parents
Uber has offered the Teens service in other countries like the US and parts of Europe for a few years and is finally bringing it to the Indian market this year. Uber is starting the new feature with 37 cities in the country which includes Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata among others. So, how does Uber for Teens work and what do you need to sign up the kid to avail this service?
Uber says you can schedule a ride for the teens by following these steps:
Parent/guardian should invite the kid to the Uber app using their accountThe teen needs to create an account and pair it with their parent’s account on UberNow the kid has the right to reserve rides on UberParents also can track their location and get real-time alertsThe rides can be booked by the parents for their teens as wellUber is also making sure that the network of drivers for teens have a different set of access. Any ride booked for teen accounts will be locked to the exact location to make sure the drivers cannot modify them.
Uber will ensure that higher rated drivers who have been verified thoroughly are eligible for teen rides. That’s not all, teen riders will also be able to record audio during their trip for better security.
The teen riders booking their own trip can have other riders aged between 13 to 17 years with parental consent. They are only allowed to sit in the back seat and have to wear the seat belt for the whole journey. Uber also assures that once the teen turns 18, their account will be converted into the standard Uber profile that most people use.
