Now it will be easy to see how much battery is left in your PC.

Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build, which features enhancements to the OS and some new user interface modifications. To help users better understand the battery level of their device, Microsoft has added a new battery icon with the latest preview build. It is said to contain a battery indicator that is colour-coded, meaning that users will be able to see when the battery needs to be charged by looking at four distinct colours.

According to Microsoft, this new indication will improve the user experience by providing users with greater energy status communication and a real-time battery life update.

In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 11 devices will now include a colour-coded battery indication. The most recent Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26120.3000–KB5050103) will give users improved battery status communication through four colour codes. These four colours will be: black for normal status, green for charging, yellow for low battery alert, and red for the battery being severely low.

“This welcome enhancement is all about clarity, practicality, and keeping you off the dreaded 'Oh no, my battery's dead!' cliff," Microsoft blog post mentioned.

Additionally, Microsoft emphasised that these colour-coded battery statuses will help overcome significant communication obstacles by offering “Clarity at a Glance," colour diversity for people with visual impairments or cognitive issues, and global appeal. In the quick setting, the new battery icon will appear on the taskbar system tray.

Among the anticipated battery indicator features, Microsoft is reportedly introducing a battery percentage option to Windows 11 PCs in addition to the ability to comprehend battery status.

It has been reported that the battery percentage would be displayed directly next to the updated battery icon, giving customers a quick overview of battery life. To activate the battery percentage indicator, select “Settings," then “Power & battery." Then, just activate the “Battery Percentage" function.

It should be noted that some Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel (a software update channel) can already access these new UI modifications, and it might take a little longer for the stable version to be made available to all Windows 11 PC users.
