The S Pen with the S25 Ultra has raised confusion about its changes

Samsung launched the new premium Galaxy S25 Ultra model earlier this month at the Unpacked event in the US along with the Galaxy S25 and the S25 Plus versions. Most of the device upgrades are hardware linked thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset but one big change was not part of the event, which revolves around the S Pen available with the Galaxy S25 Ultra model.

As we mentioned earlier, Samsung has dunked the Bluetooth support for the S Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra which means a host of features available with the Galaxy S23 and the 24 Ultra will not work on the latest Galaxy flagship phone. But a recent tip suggested Samsung will have a Bluetooth version of the S Pen available separately which will cost people more money.

The S Pen Dilemma

So, what’s the truth? The company has responded to these details, and has been quoted in a report telling its side of the story. Samsung has said that the details about the S Pen with Bluetooth support for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is not true and the blog post with the details about the accessory was an error.

To be fair, bringing a separate S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra model wouldn’t be the worst idea, In fact, Samsung could go the Apple-way and get people to spend more money to buy this accessory if they really need one.

But the new confirmation makes it clear that Galaxy S25 Ultra won’t let you do these things with the S Pen but it is still a useful tool and the only Samsung device that comes with the stylus in the box. You can also use the S Pen with the Galaxy Fold models but you have to get it as a separate accessory.

The company said the decision to ditch Bluetooth for the S Pen was made because less than 1 percent of its users were using it. The ability to click group pictures using the S Pen as a stutter did feel quite useful but the stylus offers a host of other features because of Bluetooth support like starting voice recorder, browse through a PPT during work meetings, and even control audio playback. It is sad to see a big feature going away and people seemingly are not pleased but it is better to move on from this after the company has closed the door once and for all.
