Epic Games is now taking on Google and Apple with its own focus on third-party apps through its mobile games store. Up to 17 games created by third-party developers are being added to the Epic Games Store for the first time, bringing attention to the friction that detracts from the user experience.

A video on the Epic Games YouTube channel unveiled the first few games that the gaming company is releasing in the first round of third-party games for the mobile store. While games Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe have been accessible on the Store since its inception, you can now access other titles like the Bloons TD 6 and Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee from the store, and they are free till February 20.

However, due to the Core Technology Fee, which Epic is ready to pay, as well as other limitations put in place by Apple and Google, none of the top 100 mobile game developers are now accessible in the Games Store. The platform expansion is further hampered by the fact that installing the Epic Games Store on an Android device requires 15 steps, whereas it just requires 12 steps on an iPhone.

Epic Games Sweetens App Deal

The game developer says that with an 88/12 revenue share on payments made through the Store, it gives developers preferential terms and conditions that are better than what Google and Apple offer.

The European Union (EU) region now supports the Epic Games Store for iOS thanks to the new rules. According to Epic, Apple has banned more than five million attempts to install the store, claiming that this is because of “Eligibility Requirements." After advantageous government laws are established, Epic intends to launch its iOS Store in Brazil, Australia, South Korea and the United States. By the end of this year, it hopes to have expanded to the United Kingdom and Japan.

Along with the inclusion of new games, the Epic Games Store has undergone a general update that includes many new features. Users may now access their Epic Accounts to sync their mobile titles across devices and the cloud. An auto-update feature has also been added to the store to keep applications up-to-date and operational in the background.
