Qualcomm has officially announced the new Snapdragon X processor at the CES 2025

CES 2025 is going in full swing this week and Qualcomm has used the event to give big news for PC enthusiasts and consumers. The Snapdragon X processor has mostly catered to the high-end laptops so far but now the company is ready to target the affordable PC segment with its new Snapdragon X version that promises AI features for under Rs 50,000 in the market.

Yes, the market needs affordable options because people are not going to easily spend over Rs 1 lakh on the Windows AI laptops, when they have the Apple MacBooks in their sight. But what will these $600 (Rs 51,000 approx) Snapdragon X-powered laptops offer and what can we expect from them, here’s a look at what the company is promising.

Snapdragon X For AI Laptops: Affordable But Reliable?

Qualcomm seems quite clear about what the affordable Snapdragon X laptops will offer and yes, we should not expect high-grade performance from them. The version is based on the same 4nm process like the premium tier models but the levels will be lower but that should not be a concern.

However, the company does claim it will perform better than its rival options, and longer battery life, something that most people would happily take for the price tag. You will also get to use the Copilot + features from Microsoft, which we are interested to see running on these affordable laptops. In India, we expect these Snapdragon X laptops to cost somewhere around Rs 65,000 which will still be an appealing range for many buyers.

Qualcomm will also compete with the Apple Mac Mini thanks to the Snapdragon X powered mini PCs running on Windows 11 out of the box. Early signs are promising but we’ll have to wait for another few months to see the actual laptops launch in the market with brands like Asus, Dell and HP among others expected to have their options available soon.
