Samsung's smart AI robot is capable of handling tasks remotely and listen to your voice commands at home.
Samsung has showed this robot for years but finally it could launch.
Ballie, the home robot from Samsung will finally be released in 2025, the company has announced. The South Korean tech giant first introduced the gadget in 2020, but it is yet to make it to the commercial market. It has a yellow, football-sized, baseball-shaped body equipped with a camera, a laser projector and motion sensors for navigation, among other functionalities.
The flagship device comes with a projector that allows it to stream content and display information on various surfaces, effectively converting your home's walls into displays.
During the presentation of Ballie at CES 2025, Samsung demonstrated the device projecting the film Uncharted on a wall. It also had the ability to change the screen size by using a larger surface.
Additionally, the Home Robot integrates voice recognition with advanced sensor technology, which allows the users to interact with the device with virtual buttons using 'foot presses' for command input and selection.
Moreover, Ballie is equipped with built-in speakers to produce high-quality audio output for the users. The device can also perform as a home security camera and comes with LiDAR Technology, which helps it to measure the distance between the objects.
This robot has been programmed to thoroughly map its surroundings and roam inside the house to detect any security breaches while the owner is away. The rear camera supports 2K video resolution, while the front camera can stream in 4K.
Furthermore, Ballie can be your companion at home which will help to keep you updated about the traffic, news, sports and weather. It can also help manage a variety of IoT devices, including security cameras at the entrance, air conditioning units to adjust room temperature and smart geysers.
Users can also use this AI robot to make grocery lists and travel itineraries for their upcoming trips.
To provide any command to the robot, users just need to use the wake word, Hey Ballie. Currently, the device only supports three languages: English, Spanish and Korean. The device is set to launch in the first half of 2025 and we still don’t know how Samsung will price the robot. Also, the robot will be initially limited to the US market, with other countries to join in the future.
